CHOOSE LIFE: SPIRITUAL  Carol Kenreigh Monday June 6, 2011

 

Chose Life

The next 4 weeks we will talk about Chosing Life: Spiritual, Emotional, Financial & Physical.

Read Deut 30:1-20

 Pray with the thought of Chose Life.

 VS 2 RE-Turn. Turned away God knows some of us turn like tops and bounce like pinballs from one thing to the next.

Luke 15 Prodigal son left faithful father, HE walked away and deliberately chose to  waste his inheritance on sinful lifestyle.

Later He called to mind that fathers servants had food while he ate pig slop from the trough. He remembered the advantages of living in his fathers house, and returned home and repented. He asked for forgiveness, asked to be as one of the servants, was willing to give up his status. He CHOSE LIFE while i the midst of death and sin and desperation.

The faithful good father eagerly waited for his sons return. He saw him coming! He put on his son his robes, gave him all his family rights, killed the fatted calf and celebrated his arrival

The goodness of the forgiving father is evident in this story. The goodness of God leads to repentance.

Suppose the prodigal son's father chose to condemn him when he saw him coming home? Suppose he said, "You are a dirty, rotten no good kid! You wasted everything I gave to you! How could you? Why would you do that?"

The son already knew he sinned. He came to himself. He knew it. The holy spirit convicted him already. He turned back to his father. He returned to him with all his heart and soul. he was wiling to give up everything to return to his father's house as a SERVANT. He has humbled himself. Condemnation would have turned the son away from the father, perhaps even forever.  he would have died in his condemnation a bitter person.

His father did him GOOD. The father would have every right to banish his son forever after the letter of the law. Thou shalt honor thy parents. But he chose goodness and mercy instead. The letter of the law brings death but the spirit of the law brings life. HALLELUJAH!!

 READ Deut 30:11-14

Gods commandment are not hidden secrets or mysteries. Its not far away or hard to understand.

The word is near you, in your heart & in your mouth. so you will do it.

 DEATH & LIFE ARE IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE & THEY THAT LOVE IT SHALL EAT THE FRUIT THEREOF.WE CHOSE LIFE or death every time we speak

 READ Romans 10:5-13

There is ONLY ONE WAY to the forgiving Father. The Messiah, Jesus Christ, who is the living word made flesh. He is the way, the truth & THE LIFE.  NO one comes to the Father except through Him.

JOHN 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but shall have everlasting LIFE.

Every one sins and comes short of the glory of God. Is 53:6 We all like sheep have gone astray everyone has chosen his own way. YAHWEH laid upon him all our iniquity. By his wounds we were healed. He died for salvation. He rose again for our justification. God so loved us and desired that no one perishes that he gave his precious son for everyone, even those who chose death. Chose LIFE. Chose to receive God's GOODNESS.

Have you turned to God through His son, Jesus Christ the first time? If you have turned to Him and have confessed the Word from your mouth and have believed in the deepest part of your heart that Jesus is Lord and He died and God raised Him from the dead for you, you shall be saved. You have chosen life.

If you have turned to God but have since turned away from Him, I humbly beg you to return to Him again. Chose life. He is your life.

MATHEW 7:13-27

ACTS 8:5-13

Simon the Sorcerer bewitched, amazed, astonished the Samarians a long time with his lying signs and wonders. They called him the great power of God.

Just because people call it the great power of God, does it make it the living God's power? You can put applesauce in a peanut butter jar and call it peanut butter but that does not make it so.

Was he the great power of God our Father? Those folks who prophesied in Jesus' name and cast out demons in his name were not known by Jesus because they had no relationship with him. They did what they thought they should do, but their zeal was not according to knowledge of the gospel.

In Acts 13:6,  Bible called another sorcerer, a Jew,   a FALSE PROPHET.

Another sorcerer in Acts 13:8 reveals that the sorcerer's purpose is to turn people away from the faith of Jesus Christ.

PURE WATER ILLUSTRATION. He is the pure water of the Lord, He is life giving water. He is the fountain of Living waters. Taste and see the Lord is good. Good yummy refreshing water that quenches thirst that heals my body.

THEN ADD FOOD COLORING DROPS. If we try t0 drink this, or wash in this it is not clean. It is contaminated. It is not genuine. Anytime I add my own OPINIONS,  OR a little dogma from this group and that group, here a little, there a little, drop off this verse, OK with that one, to the pure water, it gets to be a muddied mess. Lets chose LIFE. Jesus is the living WORD. He always did His father's will. He always followed God, he always obeyed His voice with all his heart and soul. He is our example. Lets follow Him, Lets enter in to LIFE WITH GOD BY WAY OF JESUS CHRIST.

By our fruits we are known. Jesus has to know and recognize us as daughters of God.

GREATER IS HE THAT'S IN YOU THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.

DEUT 30: 15

Chose life, a spiritual life that is turned to God through the way the truth & the life, Jesus Christ with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

 For HE IS OUR LIFE.

 READ DANIEL CHAPTER 3

Even if it seems like the choice before you is death not life like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. The king set up an image and made everyone fall down and worship it. Those who did not chose to worship this idol would be cast into a fiery furnace. These three Jews chose God. They chose LIFE. Remember in Deuteronomy, God said chose life for He is your life. It seemed they chose death. Because they got thrown into the furnace.  the king said it would be well with them if they bowed down to his god. They did not bow down. They knew God could deliver them if he wanted to but if he did not deliver them, they were bold and said, We will not bow. They chose LIFE.   But God IS OUR LIFE. THEY CHOSE TO BELIEVE THE GOODNESS OF GOD. And God rewarded them for their reliance upon God's GOODNESS.

Narrow is the way that leads to life. Few are those who find it. Those who wish to save their life will lose it. Those who lose their life for His sake will find it.

Turn to God now if you have not yet done so. Chose LIFE.

BOW HEADS CLOSE EYES, HAND OF THOSE WHO WANT TO CHOSE LIFE, WANT TO MAKE JESUS YOUR LORD & SAVIOUR. HE IS THE STRAIT GATE. HE IS THE DOOR OF OUR SALVATION.

SAY PRAYER OF SALVATION

Father, I need a savoir. I have sinned and have fallen short. I thank you for your forgiveness. Jesus is my Lord. I confess and chose to believe that you are my life, you gave your son for me so I can have eternal life. I chose to believe you raised up Jesus from the dead. Thank  you for salvation, for wholeness and soundness. Thank you for sealing me with your gift of holy spirit now. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Those who wish to return to God, who want to come back to God after having turned away from Him, Lets pray now.

Father, I have forsaken you but in your faithfulness and loving kindness you were waiting for me to come back to you. Thank you for loving me and forgiving me. I chose to believe you are good always and I chose life. You are my life, not just a small PART of my life.In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
