Strength

The joy of the Lord is my strength.
Nehemiah 8:10

Today I feel weak. The voice of the accuser has been shouting in my ear for a week now. It is hard not to listen; not to defend myself. God continues to tell me that he is my Defender. He will silence the voice of the accuser, but you know me; I continue to fight, if not out loud in my mind.

It is day 35 of a nationwide 40 day fast. At this point, one would think that it would get easier. I am finding it to be exactly the opposite. It is not that I want anything in particular, it is that I can't have it. It is a place that your body, your will and your emotions are all painfully aware that they are being denied something. In a culture that quenches every appetite, we aren't accustomed to this type of sacrifice.

I am almost embarrassed by my previous indulgence. I am only sharing this because I want you to understand that this is not some super spiritual thing I am doing. I am acting out of obedience, but only after months of disobedience.
Our nation is in trouble. We have filled our lives with such indulgence! I have seen it affecting my life and the lives of my family, like no other time. Not that it has just begun, but I have just begun to see it clearly. My heart is aching for something more. The things that this world offers have such short-lived satisfaction.

Three of us are headed to Nashville on Wednesday. We will answer "The Call" to prayer at a solemn assembly on Saturday. Thousands from across the nation will come and intercede on behalf of our nation. Many of you have participated over the last 35 days by praying for the nation and for those fasting. Many have participated with God's Girls Ministry by committing one day to pray.

Thank you. All forty days are covered by your faithful prayers. Please be even more diligent these last five days for those fasting. The enemy is relentless in his attempt to make God's people feel defeated. We are not defeated. We are victorious! Jesus Christ was enough. Jesus Christ is enough still.

The joy of the Lord is our strength. We find that joy as they did in the days of Nehemiah; by opening the scriptures, reading and receiving what God has so amply provided. We won't find it in food, or sex or drugs or in relationships apart from Christ or in any other counterfeit indulgence that this world offers. It is found in Christ alone. So, if any of you, like me, are feeling weak, open the Book and allow the joy of the Lord to be your strength.

Oh and just a foot note: I grew up in the South. The south, summer and sweet tea are synonymous. Tea with out sugar is just wrong, I'm sorry, but it's just wrong.

Ministry News:
Thank you for all of the faithful prayers that you have offered for SOZO Clean and God's Girls Ministry. We are about to celebrate our one year anniversary and we have already out grown our current location. We have found a new location and are preparing to move in August.
The new location will allow us to expand God's Office (a market place pray room, see www.godsoffice.org ), keeping it open to the general public during regularly scheduled business hours, as well as expand God's Girls Ministry and The Sozo Store, which will also help fund the works of the ministry.

We are currently accepting applications for consignment art and crafts to be sold in The Sozo Store for the Grand Opening Celebration.

The cost for this move is approximately $5000. We will need to build out the new space and purchase a sign and furnishings.

Many women and families have been served by our business and our ministries. We trust that we have served them well.  As we approach this move, I believe we will have a greater opportunity to reach the lost and to serve the women that God leads us to.

I am asking that you prayerfully consider making a gift offering to God's Girls Ministry to help cover the cost of this move and expansion. We have never asked for money before and hope to continue to grow our market place businesses to cover the cost of ministry in the future. Your investment will go far in helping us to build strong women and strong homes and also reach those who wander around the shopping center during lunch hour (from the Ferguson call center) for Christ.

You can make a donation to God's Girls Ministry, PO Box 6214, Newport News, Va. 23606.

I thank you, in advance, for your prayerful consideration.

be blessed,
lesa
