For This I Have Been Born... |
|
| |
Therefore Pilate said to him, "So you are a king? '' Jesus answered
"You say correctly that I am a King. For this I have been born, and for
this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who
is of the truth hears my voice." (John 18:37)
For this I have been born. Have you ever wondered for what purpose you
were born or even considered that there is a purpose? I can remember for
years wondering. I was surrounded by talented people. Some were
musicians with a great ability to play an instrument. Some had the voice
of an angel and could sing beautiful melodies. I could not do either.
Then there were those friends that excelled in sports. They could play
just about anything and do it well. Still others had the ability to
climb to the top of what ever endeavor they chose; always excelling in
school, in work, in life. There were even those that had all of the
above. I can remember talking to God about that and telling him how
unfair it was that all of these people had such natural talent and it
seemed I had none. What's up with this, God? What is my purpose?
"The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal
fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It's far
greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and
ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you
must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose".
(Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life)
Do you want to know? Do you want to be able to say with Jesus, "For
this purpose I was born"? On June 5, 2007 at the SOZO
office we will begin a 6 week Bible study that will lead us to the
answer to this question. If you have ever wondered for what purpose you
were born, then I invite you to come. Expect to discover the answer as
we seek God and his Word.
40 Days for 40 years, Fast and Pray
I can think of no better way to seek God for his purpose in our lives
than through prayer and fasting. God's Girls Ministry will be partnering
with Hope Community Church beginning May 28, 2007 for a 40 Day Fast and
Prayer time. We will join with Lou Engle, International House of Prayer,
The Call and many other ministries to answer the call to pray for our
nation. There are many ways that you can participate that do not require
that you not eat for 40 days, so please read on. We are asking that for
each of the 40 days, a different woman commit to one hour of prayer at
the Prayer Chapel at Living Stone Monastery located at 28 Harpersville
Rd. The chapel is open from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. each day except
Sunday. On the day that you sign up for, we ask that you go to the
prayer chapel and spend the hour in prayer. There will be a prayer list
in the chapel and a sign in book. There will be many in our community
that will be fasting for the 40 days and they will also need to be
covered in prayer. Please visit
www.godsgirlsministry.com
for more information and to sign up for a day or e-mail at
info@godsgirlsministry.com . I know that we can cover one hour a day
for 40 days so please don't think long, be deliberate and commit to one
hour of prayer for our nation (or participate in one of the many other
ways listed on our website.) Prayer changes things, prayer changes us.
You out-of-towners can also participate, just e-mail and let us know how
you would like to be involved. To honor God and his Word, we will keep
any commitment you make private.
Women, we have the power to change the world. Let's be deliberate and
intentional with our lives. You are God's best, you are God's girls!! |
