You know the thing that makes women do crazy things for
chocolate?
I never really
got that chocolate
thing, that is, until now. Now in my middle age, I see the
connection. I experience moments that nothing else will do but a
nice, big, thick piece of chocolate. It is comforting. Like my
grandma's house when I was little.
Everything was OK when we were
there. The world could be crashing down, but at Grandma's house, all
was well. The funny thing is, not all was always well. I remember
being there in the middle of great crisis in our family when my cousin, Carolyn, died in a car accident. It was a sad
time but what I remember is, everyone was there; all of my aunts and
uncles and cousins and even in the midst of great loss, there was
safety. Or as my daughter recently described in a letter to her
grandparents, "nothing ever went wrong on Pleasant Lane". Of course,
things do go wrong on Pleasant Lane and even at my grandma's house,
but somehow for us, these were places of great comfort.
I hope that
each of you have a memory of a place like that; a place that
is safe, no matter what. God has a place like that for you. A place
that you can go when you need to know you are loved, a place
that you can be weak, a place that being a princess is not just a
fairy tale, but the very essence of who you are to him. We at God's
Girls Ministry are committed to helping you find that place. So what
does all this have to do with chocolate? Spend May 12, 2007 with us.
Treat yourself to a day for women. Experience
chocolate at it's finest. And enjoy a day as a
princess in the presence of your Lord. You'll be
glad you did!
